Upcoming Events for May

A Tale of Two Cities: A Session with Dr. Rachel Korazim

Wednesday, May 4 ~ 7:00pm

The Zionist movement had created more than one narrative of the connections between the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. It had built on the Devine promise of Lech Lecha; it had developed a language of Biblical motifs often ignoring the later layers of Jewish literature that had developed in Diaspora.

On the other hand early Zionist immigrants, as well as the writers and poets inspired by them, have created a language of "A Fresh Start" a Venus like birth out of the sea, the sand and hard toil.

The session will explore these two contrasting Zionist narratives through the representations of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv in two poems: Jerusalem is a Place... by Yehuda Amichai and White City by Naomi Shemer

J*Company Presents:
Children of Eden

May 13th – May 22nd

From Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Pocahontas and Prince Of Egypt) and John Caird of Les Miserables comes a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children and faith. Freely based on the story of Genesis, CHILDREN OF EDEN is a musical that rivals the spectacle of The Lion King with The Naming of the Animals and of course welcoming the animals on the ark. This frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the age-old conflict between parents and children will keep you humming, singing and swaying in your seats. Adam, Eve, Noah and the Father who created them deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic actions of their respective children. The show ultimately delivers a bittersweet, but inspiring message that "the hardest part of love... is letting go"
—so true!!
